When traveling the world, you’ll want to ignore everything at home. You’ll want to relax and have a good time with your friends and family members. You can’t ignore the potential risks of bringing
bedbugs home with you. Avoid potential problems by taking steps to avoid letting
bedbugs climb in your luggage. Use the tips below to avoid issues.
Surveying Your Motel Room
Be sure to carefully scan the room before getting comfortable. It is pertinent to make sure that the room doesn’t have
bedbugs. If you find
bedbugs in the room, leave. Don’t stay in the room because the risks are immense. You don’t want
bedbugs to climb in your luggage and on your clothes. If this happens, they’re going to go home with you. Survey the room carefully and make sure it doesn’t have any
bedbugs.
Looking Deeper
Next, you’ll want to go in for a closer look. Make sure that you’re searching the room’s mattress and box spring because most of the bedbugs stay there. You may want to remove the sheets and covers first. Then, you can begin searching the mattress for bedbugs. Once you’ve done that, you’ll know whether the room has bedbugs. If it does, it is a good idea to ask for another room. Better yet, you’ll want to switch motels. In addition to this, you’ll want to check the wall decorations, baseboards, and furniture.
Elevation
Make sure that you don’t place your luggage and bags on the floor. Doing so is very problematic because bedbugs will be able to enter your luggage easily. To prevent bedbugs from climbing inside, lift your luggage from the ground. Also, don’t forget that these pests can climb walls and furniture legs. Grab the luggage rack and place it in the middle of the room. Once you’ve done that, put your luggage on the center of the rack. Taking this step should stop bedbugs from getting inside.
Examination
Once you arrive at home, you’ll want to examine your bags carefully. Don’t enter your home until you’ve made sure that your bags do not have bedbugs. Otherwise, your home is going to get bedbugs and you’ll need to combat an infestation. Go through your bags in a garage or exterior room.
Drying It
Finally, you should use your dryer to eliminate the bedbugs in your luggage. If bedbugs are in your luggage, you don’t want them to enter your home. Using the heat of the dryer is an excellent way to kill the bugs in question. Switch to the highest temperature setting. Then, let the clothes dry for 15 minutes or longer. Doing so will kill the bugs.
